I want to make a few comments. I think Spain are most likely to win. I am from England who are not overrated, they play clearly with the most spirit. Please dont go back about who won in previous years, it's like picking the next lottery tickets, the past dont ever really come up next time. Each world cup you will have new players, older players, ones who are improved and others not so good, even injured players who cannot show. Probably even a different manager. So go by performance recently on players in the team and keep the manager in mind!

all of u guys r wrong. When spain was the champion and hadn´t loose for 28 games tha USA came and beat them, after in the American cup Mexico beat the US by 5 goals, and then to qualify for the wold cup they scored another five goal, so recently mexico has won the American cup from there they been brutalizing all the teams that get on their way, they scored 5 on bolivia and recently 2 on New Zeland, all u people don´t know about soccer and make ur bets on teams that had won the world cup. Most of u beat on Argentina that burly made it to the world cup and Spin that lost against the USA and germany that hasn´t been playing good lately. Well my beat is on Mexico

Argentina had trouble qualifying for the 1986 WC yet they won it, so just because they had trouble this time means nothing. BTW, they won their last 2 qualifying games, including the big win (1-0) against Uruguay in Montevideo, Uruguay, not an easy task.

Their win against Germany was not based on luck but rather great defence, especially by W. Samuel, excellent midfield play by Veron, Di Maria, and even Messi, and an army of great strikers like Higuain. Maradona's equipo is getting there, slowly but surely. Messi will shine this June/July, that he will.

In my nopinion, Higuain's golazzo was fantastic, and not lucky due to the German keeper coming out to far from his box to stop him. The keeper actually made the right choice, he was just a split second to late.

Here's what was said about Higuain's goal: Angel Di Maria’s long left-footed pass was perfectly weighted and curled, and it tore the German defence to shreds, forcing goalkeeper Rene Adler to come 35 yards out of his goal to try to cover stranded defender Per Mertesacker. But Higuain got a deft touch to the ball, drifted away from the defence and slotted easily into the open net from 30 yards out - a clinical piece of class that was the difference between the sides.

I'm glad to see Argentina play well, although not nearly at their best form, yet. They have the great player in "La pulga" Messi, excellent supporting cast, and Maradona is starting to show that he can coach after all.
I strongly believe that Argentina will be one of the top teams at the 2010 WC and has a good chance to reach the finals, and I hope it's against Brasil.

After EC 2008 I don't think that Italy and France stand a chance. There glory years are over. I think Spain, England, Germany or the Netherlands will have the best chance. Argentina had troubles qualifying so I don't think they will stand a chance. There win over Germany was a lucky goal and a keeper error. So don't be to happy about it. BTW i am not a German I just think they have what it takes.

I think that Spain is the team to beat right now without a doubt. My biggest worry for that side is that they may want it too bad and mess up. I would also worry about burnout, which, at least to me, appears to be the reason they crashed out of the Confederations Cup to a very spirited American side. I also tip Brazil to be a dangerous side with the Netherlands, Ivory Coast, and Portugal all appearing to be contenders if they bring their best game.
Outsiders are Italy (too old and Lippi is too stubborn), Argentina (Maradona is a loose cannon), England (too over-hyped for what they actually have), and Germany (they just appear to be missing that special something).

For full disclosure I support the Azzurri.

"I think the climate will be fine for the European teams this time around, so the Rest of the World might lose their ‘home’ advantage there..."

For your information,I had already heard so many people saying the same thing you said above before when having arguments about who will win World Cup 94 in USA and World Cup 02 in Korea/Japan.When I said Non Euro team will win WC94 and WC02,my opponents replied to me as exactly as you typed above.

The winner of WC2010 is obviously a non european team because this World Cup is held outside of Europe.History always repeats itself and no human(except me) ever learns to accept it.
