US Soccer announced today that a friendly match against El Salvador will be held on February 24, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The game will be broadcast on ESPNClassic and Telefutura. The recent news of Tampa making the final 18 proposed US venues for WC 2018/2022, and the Tampa Bay Rowdies finally learning that they will field a USL team already had the soccer contingent in Tampa buzzing. I’ve got to imagine the game on February 24th will be a sellout, even if the roster is likely to only contain US based players.

Sell out???? not a chance they can’t sell out 60,000+….I was at the US v Ecuador match in 2008 and I think the attendance was around 35,000 and the upper deck was not open at all. That game was on a Saturday fat chance Tampa can fill up this game but hope its a great crowd. Can’t wait for some club football to hit Tampa. I moved here from LA and I missed the club game.
