It’s taken me several days to come down from the lows of how depressed I felt after the United States lost against Ghana on Saturday. Bottom line, the performance by the United States that day was simply not enough. They could have done better. Much better. But after some poor tactical decisions, their backs were against the wall against a very talented, athletic and gifted Ghana side.
The 2-1 aet loss Saturday is nothing to be ashamed of. I just wish the players who were the best fit for the job were on the field Saturday specifically Maurice Edu, Benny Feilhaber and Edson Buddle, all of whom should have started.
Nevertheless, we can’t go back in time to change things, but I can share some of the videos and pictures that were taken from the USA v Ghana World Cup Viewing Party at Wowies in Boca Raton. While the result didn’t go our way, the packed audience of more than 300 soccer fans had a great time. Here are the videos and photos from the day:

I was immediately disappointed at the US performance in this game with the early giveaway (3 outta 4 games, c’mon). Honestly, the defending was horrible on that first score and we looked lazy. Did anyone else see Bocanegra just kind of give up defending on that run?
I saw easily two opportunities to make a score, one of which Altidore, I believe, let the ball bounce too far in front of him and another time we kicked it straight at the goalie on the ground. Good teams shoot for the upper corner of the net not straight at the goalie and until we learn that we can forget advancing. It seems only Donovan got that memo but he can’t save us every time.
Too bad we won’t be able to get together at Wowies for anymore USA games for this Cup. With what the team did and the increased popularity for soccer hopefully future USMNT games will draw big pub crowds. It’s part of the growth process.
Tell me about it. It would have been an incredible weekend for soccer fans in America if US had beaten Ghana. But we’ve had some big crowds for the other games too. We had 90 people there for Argentina versus Mexico, for example.
