The Power Of 10: New ESPN World Cup TV Commercial

by The Gaffer on May 7, 2010 · 2 comments

ESPN debuted its newest TV commercial this morning to promote its coverage of the 2010 World Cup. This time, ESPN gives a nod to the "quarterback" of soccer, the number 10. Pele, Maradona, Messi and other soccer gods.

The video is set to the "Out Of Control" song by U2.

What do you think of the video and how does it compare to the ones you've seen thus far? While I enjoy it, it doesn't give me the goosebumps the same way that the earlier ones did.

I agree that this is not there most inspirational effort. I love the PUMA: Journey of Football video set to Going On by Gnarls Barkley.

My sports career has always revolved around the number 10.It’s our family number. I wear it, my 4 sons wear it, their wives and kids wear it. It’s tattoed on my leg, its on my license plate, I wear it proudly every day. Every one that knows me and my family associate us with the number 10.
This commercial was made for me not the World Cup. I think you get the idea!
