Today’s match-up between Germany and Argentina isn’t simply a World Cup soccer match. It’s also part of the Diego Maradona “show,” where we get a chance to watch this magnetic character to see what he’ll do next either on or off the field.
Watching Argentina, I get a sense that both the players and coaching staff are incredibly proud of their country and are on a mission that is far greater than winning for their club. They seem like very patriotic and focused individuals who are all working to achieve the same goal, victory.
The same can be said of Germany, who always looked so focused and know exactly what they need to do to win a game.
The challenge is that only one team will win today and only one will lose in this game. Which one it will be is a tough call to make.
Before, during and after today’s game between Argentina and Germany, feel free to share your opinions and observations in the comments section below with soccer fans from around the World Cup. Enjoy the game. Let’s hope it’s a classic.
If you live in the South Florida area, I’ll be watching the game at Wowies Sports Grill today in Boca Raton (7036 W. Palmetto Park Road). During the game today, we’ll be giving away one Jabulani ball courtesy of Adidas. I look forward to seeing you there if you can make it.

Alas, the lack of focus from erstwhile England; this is, I suspect, largely due to the focus of money -they already have. Shame.
South American teams, paid relatively little, are score hungry. Aside, the teams remaining fight for glory. Pursuit of excellence? Hand of Dog or Arm of Wolf, alight at yawning nets, these tricks are awaiting mighty nemesis somewhere down the line. Call it Karma.
Cool headed Germany may win the piece, the strutting arrogance of Maradona’s lot may puff the ball into magical swirls around the pitch, but an incisive dispassionate overview may unscramble it, at last.
Watch out for ballet v mesmeric limbs, which speak less than truth to one-dimensional referees.
Another incredible performance by Germany. Defensively they’re so strong and they look so dangerous on the counter. They’ve completely stifled most of Argentina’s attacks.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Germany were outstanding today. Remember their first game when they put four past Australia, many pundits dismissed it because of the ‘weak’ opposition? I think nobody, even Alan Hansen can claim they aren’t a quality outfit now. Argentina unlike England weren’t rubbish and especially early in the second half had Germany on the back foot, but the Germans just stayed calm and picked Argentina off, keeping the pressure on until the last minute. Kudos to Maradona & the Argentinian players though, for losing with dignity unlike the 1990 & 2006 sides who shamed themselves after losing to Germany.
after today l think germany will be world cup winner because spain just made it but not good as germany
I am So Happy and Proud to be German Go Boys Go!!!
something went terribly wrong in the argentina-germany game. 4-0?? No way, I’ve been watching all these teams for the past three years and no way this final score makes any sense. Makes you wonder what goes on behind FIFA’s closed doors. Germany was no match for Argentina. 4-0!!?? No way that makes any sense. It was as if Argentina just decided to hang things up for no apparent reason. Argentina by far had the best team in this years World Cup.
