The World Cup is golden, and now the ball used in the final will be as well.
FIFA and adidas unveiled the JO’BULANI on Tuesday, a tribute version of the JABULANI ball that will be used for the other matches in South Africa this summer.
According to the press release, ”the name JO’BULANI is inspired by the name JABULANI, meaning “to celebrate” in isiZulu, one of the eleven official languages of the Republic of South Africa, and which is spoken by almost 25 percent of the population. The name JO’BULANI is also a tribute to the host city of the Final, Johannesburg, or Jo’burg as it is commonly known. The JO’BULANI is designed in white and gold, as a tribute both to the colour of the FIFA World Cup Trophy and the ‘City of Gold,’ another nickname for Johannesburg.”
This is the second consecutive World Cup that will feature a different ball for the final, as the TEAMGEIST BERLIN model was kicked around in 2006′s final.
Of course, you can own one yourself for the low, low price of $150.
Happy bidding…
