There was one question I asked myself as I stood in line at Gamestop a few weeks back to reserve a copy of “2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.”
Am I really about to drop another $60 on a new FIFA game just six months after doing so on “FIFA 10?”
Well, the fact that I’m writing a review gives away my decision.
And it was a pretty good one.
The question has to be addressed, though.
It is a polished up version of “FIFA 10.” Gone, of course, is the manager mode and the slew of leagues in which you can play.
In their place is the ability to control 199 different teams for the World Cup, or take any one of them through qualification.
Captain Your Country – the World Cup cousin of the Be A Pro feature in the normal FIFA series – is back and offers another level of fun and interest.
The graphics are a bit cleaner than they were in “FIFA 10.” There are actual fans, and the ever-present vuvuzelas buzzing away in the stands in South Africa – when you make it there.
All of this alone might justify opening your wallet, but for me, the Story of Qualifying mode puts it over the top.
It’s a series of scenarios from all over the world in which you get a chance to re-live, or rewrite, history.
In Oceania, you, playing as new Zealand, have to overturn a 1-0 halftime lead for Vanuatu. In South America, you’ll get the chance to wipe away Bolivia’s 5-1 lead against 10-man Argentina in about 22 minutes (still working on that one).
I’ve had the game a week, and I’ve probably spent 10 or 15 hours just playing through scenarios.
Is $60 a lot of money? You bet.
But if you’re fired up about the World Cup, and a fan of the FIFA series, this one is a must-own.
Nice to know mate, I was pondering whether to get this one after I played the demo and loved it, i’ve heard a lot of good things though, and the scenarios are a dream come true, i remember them on the old ISS!
This game is pretty craptacular. It’s barely better than Fifa 2010. Konami Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 has much better gameplay and is MUCH more realistic.
It lacks the team names (though you can modify and add them) as well as the logos, but it’s so much more enjoyable to play. (And it DOES have player names, tecmo-bowl style) The FIFA games are ridiculous nonsense that don’t resemble soccer at all. It’s like playing foosball.
I like the game, especially the two-button controls, which are more dynamic, minus grunt work like selecting defenders.
I wont’ be picking this up. Too much money for too similar a product.
I simply CANNOT get ENOUGH of Fifa 10′s Ultimate Team mode. It is pretty much all I have played since the add-on was released in FEB. It’s like an entirely different game.
If you’re playing ultimate team on the Xbox be careful now, because theres a glitch that people are exploiting at the moment where other players can control your team and just score own goals against you, it happend to me last night and I was proper annoyed!

This game is not even close worth 60$. The gameplay is sooo un-realistic. Fifa 10 is a much better game. The world cup game could be one of the worse video games I’ve ever played, especially with a 60$ price tag. DO NOT BUY THIS!
I’ve enjoyed FIFA games for a while now, this updated version of 10 is quite frankly dreadful. It is totally un-realistic with ball physics, AI intelligence and performance, sub-standard improvements on shooting… I could go on and on really.
I’d hope that EA work out the problems and make 11 a marked improvement or i may go back to PES.

This is a really good collection. The real thing. I’ve seen so many Photoshopped ankara oto kiralama images that I was secretly craving for something like this for long.
I don’t think Shockey would make it in the Rockettes, either. Apples and oranges.
